Conquest of Earth Stellar Conquest Series Book 4 eBook David VanDyke
plenty of action, enough politics without getting bogged down, generational relationships thanks to time dilation and a nearly ageless society. this series seems to be great.also it has one of the most interesting dynamics i have ever read in a set of books, how do your soldiers react to having a bunch of rookies join them after they have been fighting wars for hundreds of subjective years, throw in some Klingon/Ewoks and a slightly overemotional AI and let the entertainment begin.
didn't much care for the new enemy though, seemed rather cliche.

Conquest of Earth Stellar Conquest Series Book 4 eBook David VanDyke Reviews
I gave this book five 5-Stars because it had a great storyline and excellent action plot.
I recommend buying this book and reading if you enjoy reading Science Fiction books.
I’ve liked all David VanDyke’s books starting with The Eden Plagues. They are still my favorites. But all his books have been good. I love reading about many of the same characters that I like so much. It’s amazing how his aliens enemies are bad but then there are others so much worse! The battles continue to keep me riveted. The outcome can never be taken for granted.
Pros Book 4 has more action and is fast paced--which for a military science fiction read is nice. This is a talented author and the books are well written and edited. I enjoyed the extra length to the read and do not begrudge the price increase. If you enjoyed the first three books in the series, this offering will not disappoint.
Cons I have always wondered why some people gripe about characters lacking depth. Obviously, giving characters more depth requires more pages and takes away from the action in the read. Having finished Book 4, the lack in strong character development is taking its toll. Action is like junk food, consume too much and it begins to lose its appeal. The story at this point is losing its appeal (not for lack of good action, wonderful editing and a consistent extension of the storyline).
A grueling business that involved many changes in strategy for the most important things that can decide the battle and ultimately the war. The aliens have been able to get their goals by overwhelming the defending forces. However, the humans are usually the most able to adjust their tactics and use the mistakes of the enemy against them. If the humans can get together with the Meme against the Scourge, they have a chance to save the Earth.
OK, I really want to give this 6 stars but...
So, some background first. I have savored every minute of this series and the Plague series that's the forerunner to the Stellar Conquest books. I was waiting with baited breath for this one to come out (note-I’ve delayed writing this short review for months) and read it in no time at all but... This book, while still very good, felt like it ran out of steam about a third of the way through which coincided with my feeling that the author had ran out of ideas for the Meme so he… well, no spoilers here so, read it for yourself!
Maybe it’s just that my over fertile imagination was expecting too much, you know, a bit like the third Matrix film, or the first time you get a really hot woman/man into the sack and at first it’s like “oh yeah baby” but ultimately you end up thinking “myeh “… As I say maybe, I just built this book up to be something it possibly couldn’t be but I just can’t shake the feeling that the book just didn’t ultimately deliver. It’s like he wanted to get this book out of the way so he could get on with some other projects. However, in doing so the book that should have been the jewel in the crown of the series ended up feeling rushed and a little short, a bit like being a sandwich short of a picnic if you get my drift…
Now, you should know that I think David’s an excellent writer, we have even conversed briefly in the past and he’s also co-written some (at least one) book with Mr. Star force himself and that’s high praise indeed. That’s also, why I’ve taken so long to put virtual ink to virtual paper because I feel a little disloyal in doing so. However, in the hope that Mr. V’ can recapture the edge of the seat, nail biting “OMG” moments and the quality and depth of previous books into the next book in the series then all will be forgiven.
This fourth book demands more, more, more! Now I must read the preceding Plaque Wars series which forms the backdrop upon which Stellar Conquest is played. The Earth has been conquered by amoeba like aliens called "Memes" and transformed into a world where humans and aliens merge to varying degrees to form the ruling classes of the human "Underlings". Surviving members of Earth 's defeated EarthFleet aboard the upgraded Dreadnought Conquest have returned to the Solar System with new technology and new allies to begin the 're-conquest of Earth only to discover a new alien menace has arisen which frighten even their old enemies, the Meme. So the question now is should the Humans continue the fight to liberate the Earth from the Meme or strike a deal with the Meme to form an alliance to defeat the far more deadly aliens known as the Scourge.
While not an original concept, (the recent Star Carrier Dark Matter novel by Ian Douglas poses a similar conundrum) Mr Vandyke writes a compelling story with characters taken from all the contending species; not just a description of space battles and technology. I applaud the ending but I don't think it would be possible to eradicate 100 percent of the invaders. Like cockroaches, the aliens will have to be dealt with forever.
I highly recommend this book.
I am absolutely loving David Van Dyke's series The Conquest series, the Eden plague series, etc. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys science fiction, military action, and a bit of politics. They are surprisingly clean. I can't wait to recommend them to my grandson when he is old enough to handle such a big universe. Well done Mr. Van Dyke. I hope to read more of your work
